What do you do when Parkinson's disease robs you of your voice, speech or swallowing ability? You seek out a voice specialist and a speech-language pathologist. Dr. J.P. Gniady from the Silvertein Institute and Amy Arrant from Sarasota Memorial's Rehabilitation Services sat down recently with Heidi Godman on WSRQ radio to discuss voice and swallowing issues that often occur in patients with Parkinson’s disease. The Lee Silverman Voice Training, or LOUD, program is frequently used in the course of Speech Therapy to help patients regain vocal quality. Adjuvant procedures are also an option.
